An artificial surf wave, pubs, restaurants, a bowling alley and even an escape game ... The Lyon football club inaugurated this me

Staggered because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Olympique Lyonnais leisure area finally opened its doors on Wednesday noon.

“I am very happy to be here.

It is the culmination of an immense project which is the symbol of what life will be like tomorrow, ”declared the boss of this OL Vallée, Jean-Michel Aulas.

Glued to the Décines stadium, now Groupama Stadium, the 23,000 m2 complex has ten restaurant and eight leisure brands, including an artificial surf wave, the largest in France, an escape game, a football complex. indoors, another for padel, a trampoline court or even a bowling alley and a virtual reality video games room.

More than 2,500 people will work in this leisure center, presented as the largest in Europe, of which 1,000 will be recruited on Thursday, June 17 during a “job dating”.

Open from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m.

Through this project, the Olympique Lyonnais wants to make its stadium "a place of life" open from 7 am to 1 am every day of the week.

OL, which sold the land to Vinci, is only a minority shareholder in the company that manages this project, but ultimately hopes, like FC Barcelona, to be "more than a club" by offering a “global” experience next to its stadium, which the Arena project, where Asvel, the Lyon-Villeurbanne basketball club, will be set up, will complete.

“This Arena will make it possible to transform the city, the region into an incredible place of culture and events (…).

But it is not because we do a certain number of other things that we do not think about football, which is our main activity, ”warns Jean-Michel Aulas.
