This is the fight to qualify for the Qatar World Cup in South America

2021-06-09T16:49:18.938Z

This week the seventh and eighth days of the South American Qualifiers were played that precede the start of the Copa América postponed in 2020.

After the amount of inconvenience that has surrounded it for several months,

the Copa América will start in just a few days in Brazil.

The maximum continental competition at the national team level will kick off after it

had to be suspended in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic and in recent weeks CONMEBOL decided to change the venues

, initially set in Argentina and Colombia.

This week, the ten South American teams played

two new rounds of the South American Qualifiers as a preview of what is to come in the Copa América.

The seventh and eighth dates were played with the fifth and sixth still postponed waiting to be played.

This is the fight to go to the Qatar World Cup 2022 in South America.

  • Brazil (18 points).

    Totally

    unstoppable in these Playoffs

, with six wins in six games and the feeling that they are several steps above.

Tite's men beat Ecuador 2-0 and

    Paraguay 0-2.

Great favorites in the Copa América, also as hosts.

  • Argentina (12 points).

Scaloni seems to have found the team and

has known how to surround Messi so that he is decisive,

    although defensive security should improve.

They did not go beyond the draw against Chile (1-1) or

Colombia (2-2) despite the fact that they were ahead on the scoreboard in both.

  • Ecuador (9 points).

Hard setback for La Tri before the Copa América, falling with dignity in Brazil (2-0) but also at home to Peru (1-2).

With Alfaron on the bench and

a very promising generation, they will have to get back on the winning track to ensure their presence in Qatar 2022.

  • Uruguay (8 points).

Double matchday and double draw to zero (against Paraguay and Venezuela) for those from Tabárez, who at least seem to

have improved defensive security while they continue to accumulate quality in the middle and above.

It would be a surprise not to see them at the World Cup.

  • Colombia (8 points).

Valuable double game for the coffee growers, leaving behind the two goals in their two previous duels with

a resounding victory in Peru (0-3) and a draw against Argentina after starting 0-2.

Those of Rueda also point to Qatar.

  • Paraguay (7 points).

Two more games in which the Albirroja failed to win, drawing without goals against Uruguay and losing at home to Brazil (0-2).

Despite adding only one win, Berizzo's men are leaving good feelings

and it would not be a surprise if they managed to qualify.

  • Chile (6 points).

Two draws on this double date that are of little use, taking a point from his visit to Argentina (1-1) but

leaving another two when receiving Bolivia after getting ahead in the second half.

They will have to improve a lot if they want to have a chance to play the World Cup.

  • Bolivia (5 points).

Valuable double day for Farías' team,

    opening their record of victories

adding 4 points after beating Venezuela (3-1) and drawing against Chile (1-1).

Moreno Martins has scored three goals and scares ahead of the Copa América.

  • Venezuela (4 points).

    The Vinotinto continues to

lurch without leaving a very good feeling.

They fell to Bolivia, their direct rival, 3-1 before drawing 0-0 against Uruguay at home.

    It seems

very complicated for José Peseiro's men to be in the World Cup.

  • Peru (4 points).

Capable of the worst, falling 0-3 in Colombia in the first game of this double day, and of the best, achieving

or adding their first victory in

    their visit to Ecuador (1-2)

    .

    Despite the fact that

the incorporation of Lapadula has given them a plus

, thinking about repeating the feat of qualifying for a World Cup as they already did in Russia seems like a chimera.
