The Basketball Association will meet this morning (Thursday) to decide the question of the fate of the game between Hapoel Gilboa / Galil and Hapoel Holon, which was stopped last night, 6:58 minutes to end the match with a result of 55:60 for the hosts.

The union, and representatives of the league's administration, will be presented with referees' judges Sefi Shemesh, Erez Gurion and Adar Peer and observer Hillel Hillman and one of two decisions will be made - a technical loss for a guest who refused to return to play or a replay tomorrow at 14:00 in Gan Ner.

Basketball Association officials, league coordinator Naftali Goshen and general manager Yaakov Ben-Shoshan, were part of last night's talks during the power outage in Gan Ner. Before the committee, when one of the union's seniors said during the night: "We know the significance of this decision, it is not a basket game, there will be a difficult discussion."

It was a dramatic and bizarre evening at Candle Garden. There was literally a hot game on the floor, as the air conditioner in the hall had not worked since noon and the surface was damp. The stands were very crowded, with 700 Holons and 1,500 fans of the local team creating a great atmosphere that did not develop until the power outage into unsportsmanlike stripes.

Then, less than 7 minutes to the end, the electricity in the candle garden fell off. Within minutes it became clear that this was a regional malfunction, and the people in the hall tried to turn on the generator and the emergency generator that were in the hall. The two went into action, but after a few seconds the power went out, when they were unable to turn on the hall's electrical system. "The generator was tested even on the morning of the game," the hall staff said during the night, "it works, the problem? It's asleep."

During the darkness, discussions began between the league's general manager, Shlomi Perry, who was in the courtroom, chairman Shmuel Frenkel who was at his home, representatives of the basketball association, representatives of the teams and observer Hillel Hillman, with the parties also consulting with the referees. After about 20 minutes that the electricity did not return, the parties entered the HFK, and the decision that will be examined today in the committee of the basketball association was made, probably also with the consent of Hapoel Holon: if the game is not renewed within an hour and would be resumed on Friday at 14:00 from scratch.

Once the decision was made about 40 minutes after the power failure, Hapoel Holon captain announced Guy pearls that his team will not return to play even if the power again and back in the game at this point would be a health hazard players.

While the parties were ready to disperse, at 23:46, 4 minutes to the end of the allotted time, electricity returned to the hall.

Within minutes, the crowd on the floor was evacuated, and the Gilboa / Galil players returned to warming up, but it immediately became clear that the Holon players' threat was coming true and they did not intend to return.

When the administration made it clear to them that this meant a technical loss, the players gathered and finally decided not to return, and the game was stopped.

The principal still tried to convince the Holon players, but they left the locker room with the bags and after showers and left the hall.

At the time of the players' decision, the rush also moved to the stands with a confrontation between Holon fans and the Gilboa people, and damage was recorded to the stands in Gan Ner.

Holon is firm in its opinion.

"If at Gilboa they want to reach the final like this, let them have health," said Holon chairman Eitan Lanciano last night, who was angry that the team opposite did not show up with them for a replay. Holon players also had complaints about the team's conduct: "They took advantage of the fact "They are young guys in front of adults who need more warm-up time, their respect for the profession is in doubt," said one of the Holon players. Guy Pnini, a member of the players 'organization's board, said that the players' organization stands by the Holon players.

At Gilboa, too, where they stated that they wanted a decision on the parquet but were following the instructions given to them, they accused the people of Holon of cynically exploiting the situation.

According to Gilboa officials, while their players stayed on the floor for a long time and had a fight with fitness coach Jordan Saada, in Holon the fans entered the floor and posed for pictures with the players, with Joe Alexander going up to the podium and other players leaving the hall and talking on the phones.

"They were sure the game was not coming back, that they would look at their conduct in the mirror before coming to us with complaints."

In recent years there have been two similar cases where the decision has been to cancel a game.

In 2009, a basket was broken in the bin in the game between Hapoel Holon and Elitzur Ashkelon in the first quarter, and after an hour of substitution attempts, it was decided to cancel the game.

In 2018, the ring in the hall in Ashdod was broken and after half an hour of substitution attempts, it was decided to postpone the game.
