The French Madeleine Malonga was beaten on Friday by the German Anna Maria Wagner in the final of the world championships in Budapest in the -78 kg category and therefore failed to retain her title.
Malonga, world No. 1, will be in contention this summer at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, where she will be among the favorites for the gold medal despite her setback on Friday.
His medal is the second won by the France team in Budapest, after Clarisse Agbegnenou's gold on Wednesday in -63 kg.
