The UAE national team beat Indonesia 5-0 in the match that brought them together today in the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup and 2023 Asian Cup.
Emirati striker Ali Mabkhout scored two goals for his country in the 22nd and 49th minutes from a penalty kick. Fabio de Lima also scored a double in the 28th and 55th minutes, while Sebastian Tagliabue scored the fifth goal by the 86th minute of the meeting, which was held at Zabeel Stadium in Dubai.
With this win, the UAE team raised its score to 15 points to occupy second place in the Group G standings, two points behind its Vietnamese counterpart, followed by Thailand and Malaysia with 9 points each, while Indonesia is at the bottom of the standings with one point.
