The Competition Authority on Friday rejected the appeal of Canal + against the terms of reassignment of Ligue 1 TV rights. A decision that clears the legal horizon for an expected (and imminent) agreement between the encrypted channel and the Professional Football League (LFP).

"At the end of its examination, the Authority rejected the referral to the bottom of Canal + and the request for precautionary measures associated with it, considering that they were not accompanied by sufficiently convincing elements", she said. written in a press release.

At the end of January, Canal + seized the Competition Authority against the LFP, accusing it of having committed an “abuse of a dominant position”. According to the Vivendi group channel, the LFP only put back on the market the rights returned by Mediapro after the scathing failure of the latter. However, these rights did not include those corresponding to lot 3, that is to say the meetings on Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 9 p.m. Allocated to beIN Sports (for 330 million euros per year), the latter then sublicensed them in early February to Canal +, which estimated its value to be overvalued and demanded a global call for tenders.
