The padel comes out of the shadows under the bright sun of Roland-Garros. A court, from Wednesday to Sunday, has been specially installed on number 5 in front of Philippe-Chatrier. A perfect setting for this little discipline on the rise. We saw Cyril Hanouna tease the ball with former winners of Roland Garros, like Sergi Bruguera. Padel, quèsaco? A racquet sport combining tennis and squash. A discipline from South American countries and Spain competing on a tennis court shortened by a few meters (20 m by 10 m), with plexiglass walls and grids on the sides. We hit the ball with big rackets and under-inflated balls, in a match format like in tennis. The bronze medalist at the Sydney Olympics Arnaud Di Pasquale, former DTN, converted to this discipline for a few years,promoted it on Thursday morning in his role as director of the padel mission at the FFT.
