When does the season for amateur footballers in the Zugspitze district start and, above all, in which league system?

A BFV webinar has now provided initial information.

District - how and when?

These two questions are currently bothering Bavarian amateur footballers.

When does the next season start, and above all: In which game system?

For the clubs in the Zugspitze district, a webinar by the Bavarian Football Association provided initial answers on Wednesday evening.

151 participants absorbed the information presented by Wolfgang Hauke (branch manager of the district of Upper Bavaria) and Heinz Eckl (district chairman).

The two alternative game models formed the core of the presentation.

The start of the season

The start date is already fixed for many leagues. The teams that are based in the Zugspitze district have until the weekend of July 31/1. August time for your preparations. Then the 2021/2022 season begins. Only one district league has to wait and see. Background: A club complains about problems, does not yet know whether it can even provide a team. If this team is eliminated, there are only circular leagues with 14 teams. Otherwise, a league with 15 teams will be on the 24th / 25th. Start the season in July. In any case, the regular games should be completed before Pentecost 2022. The last game day will be on the weekend of 21./22. May. Only the relegation participants have to compete on the holidays.

Of course, the participants asked why they wanted to start the season so early.

Eckl answered her briefly: “The start is not discussed.

There is now plenty of time to prepare.

And we don't know what's coming, what the pandemic will do, what Mr Söder will decide.

In addition, we don't want to play after Whitsun when many are saying goodbye on vacation. "

The three variants

System number one is the tried and tested with round trip plus relegation.

Problem with this: 30 game days (in a 15-man league) or 26 game days (in a 14-man league) would have to be played.

In this context, Eckl confesses: “We have got the fourth, fifth wave coming.” Hence the early start of the season, hence the two other models, which each only provide for 22 match days.

Alternative model 1 includes a championship with two groups.

For example, in the case of a league with 14 teams, this means seven teams each.

They compete against each other in the first and second leg - until the winter break.

The top four in each group will then meet in the first and second leg in the championship round.

The last three fight to stay in the relegation round.

Alternative model 2 does not provide for division into a league, but a simple round, i.e. only first legs.

After the winter break, it would then also continue in the championship and relegation round with two legs.

The teams would be divided as in alternative one - eight fight for the title, six against relegation.

The main questions raised by the alternative models were the points taking after the preliminary round. There are also two variants here. In alternative model 1, only the preliminary round points that were collected against teams that are also met in the following round would be taken. Example: If the bottom of the table surprisingly wins against the group leader at the end of the preliminary round, this is a great success, but does not bring the victorious team anything for the following round of relegation. Variant two are the bonus points, which are also known from the Zugspitz pilot project, which is to be tested from season 22/23. There would be points for the respective placement after the preliminary round, with which one then starts in the following round.

The bonus points are also an option with alternative model 2. The other variant is to take all of the preliminary round points with you into the respective following round.

Both alternative models have some advantages and disadvantages (see box).

It is also possible that the district leagues play a different model than the district classes or A-classes.

That doesn't work within the leagues.

Means: The district league 1 cannot play a normal season and the district league 3 one of the alternative models.

How it goes on

Now the clubs are in demand again.

However, they do not vote this time, only the BFV gets their opinion.

You can now indicate whether you want to play one of the two alternative models in the coming season or if you want to stick to the tried and tested.

The clubs have until tomorrow for this.

Then the game committee wants to decide on the system and divide the teams into the respective leagues.

Eckl announced that the results should be published next Monday or Tuesday.

Complainant associations

Since some clubs do not want to come to terms with the fact that there are also relegated members after the end of the 19/20/21 season and want to complain, the decisions and divisions that were soon made stand on shaky feet.

“That is the right of the clubs.

But we have to plan everything just for reasons of time, ”says Eckl.

He emphasizes that it is “a lot of work” to plan the coming season.

On the one hand, the sword of Damocles, known as the pandemic, hovers over everything, and there are plenty of clubs to do justice to.

“The Zugspitze district is the largest in Upper Bavaria.

The Upper Bavaria district is the largest in Bavaria.

And Bavaria is the largest association in Germany, ”says Eckl to illustrate the scope of the work.

The problem children

When it comes to alternative models, the B and C classes in particular are problematic.

Eckl describes the classifications in these leagues as "difficult", "critical", if not even "cruel".

These adjectives come mainly from the league strengths.

These divisions are not bursting with teams anyway, now twelve teams have said goodbye to the game (two from the B-class, ten from the C-class).

There are currently no plans to dissolve the lowest division and move the C-class teams to the B-class.

But if the situation develops like this, you may not be able to avoid this step in the future, emphasizes the game master.

Toto trophy

Anyone who thinks that the leagues will start early has forgotten the Toto trophy. In addition, it is initially about the trophy of the 19/20/21 season and the 21/22 season alternately. It starts on July 1st with the first round games for the 21/22 cup. On July 4th, the semi-finals of the season that was actually canceled will follow. However, the association game committee has decided that there will be a Toto Cup winner of the Corona season and that this must also be determined by means of a game. In the Zugspitze district, they therefore agreed on two semi-finals. The participants were drawn by lot. Teams that had not yet been eliminated from the League Cup and had expressed their interest in competing in the Toto Cup were added to the pot. Four teams were then drawn - one from each division level.

The luck of the draw was on the side of the WSV Unterammergau.

The district classist meets district league team DJK Waldram in the semifinals.

The other final ticket is between TSV Schongau (A-Class) and the district league club SC Oberweikersthofen.

The finals will take place on July 10th.

Two days beforehand, the aim is to qualify for round three of the Toto Cup season 21/22.

This will follow on July 14th.

Round four is scheduled for July 21st.

The early start is due to the numerous teams.

Eckl announced that 108 participants had already registered for the cup.

"We haven't had that many with us for many years."

The desire

Outstanding lawsuits, teams in question, classifications, game model in question.

Despite all these as yet imponderable points, Eckl wanted to give the webinar participants a few more sentences: “Not everything we can offer is great.

But I just hope that we can play smartly again soon, and then we can have half a beer together again.

It is time!"
