Euro 2021: serious discomfort for Danish Christian Eriksen, evacuated to hospital

Denmark star Christian Eriksen collapsed on Saturday in the 43rd minute of the Euro Group B game between Denmark and Finland in Copenhagen.

The Inter Milan player, victim of discomfort, was taken care of by doctors who gave him a heart massage behind a protective wall formed by his teammates, most of them in tears.

The UEFA EURO 2020 match in Copenhagen has been interrupted for medical reasons.

Shortly before 7 p.m., he was evacuated on a stretcher, masked by white sheets, still surrounded by his teammates and friends.

His wife, in tears, was present.

She stepped onto the edge of the lawn and was consoled by the Danish captain.

The match was naturally stopped and players and staff of both teams returned to the locker room.

Fortunately, around 7:15 p.m., reassuring news arrived. A photo of the conscious player was relayed. UEFA for its part officially announced that the player had been transferred to hospital "in stable condition". A communication from the European body is expected around 7.45 p.m. following a crisis meeting between the two teams and UEFA officials. The Danish Football Association confirmed that the player was "conscious" and that he was about to take exams.
