The handball players of PSG lost in the semi-final of the Champions League against the Danes of Aalborg (33-35). They won't argue with Colog

Still missed!

PSG handball players will not play this Sunday in Cologne, the second Champions League final in their history, four years after that lost to Macedonians Vardar Skopje in the last second (24-23).

This Saturday in Cologne, the Parisians fell from high, from very high.

They lost for the fourth time in five appearances in the semi-finals of the Final Four.

Their executioner this time is Viking, comes from Denmark and is called Aalborg, the surprise guest of the last square.

30 ': It's the break!

Paris is in the lead!

We have to confirm that in the second half!

Paris however led this semi-final for 50 minutes. In front of a few thousand supporters who had the right to fill the immense Lanxess Arena in the Rhine city. Mikkel Hansen however showed the way by scoring three entry penalties (4-1, 11th), well followed by the ardor of pocket center-center Luc Steins (9-5, 20th). In a bitter defensive duel, Yann Genty was a wall in his cage. But at the break, PSG ‚had only two goals ahead (15-13). Not enough to be quiet. So the Parisians did not give up when they returned from the locker room in front of a team that tried to put them to sleep. They remained vigilant (22-18, 40th) but never really calm. Casually, Aalborg never gave up, remaining stuck to the score, on the lookout for his prey which ended up being nibbled (29-29, 55th). In the end, Paris lost two goals 33-35.

What regrets because this was a wonderful opportunity. Unlike the previous edition last December of the Final Four, Paris is in Cologne in full possession of its means. Unlike December when Luc Steins and Henrik Toft Hansen had to withdraw from the virus, no positive Covid-19 case has disrupted the preparation of a group that seems sure of its strength. Nikola Karabatic came back from his long injury at the right time. The boss was able to win his fourth personal Champions League (Montpellier, 2003; Kiel 2007) and the first since 2015 when he triumphed with Barcelona. Mikkel Hansen like Nedim Remili, captain Luka Karabatic, Elohim Prandi or Dylan Nahi for their part dreamed of winning their first.

It will be for next time, maybe. The final will pit Aalborg against the winner of the other final which takes place this late Saturday afternoon. She will pit Nantes against Barcelona and Paris will follow her with eyes damp with sadness.
