The Netherlands presented themselves in excellent shape in their first game at the Pan-European Football Championship 2021 *.
And still had to tremble.
The "Elftal" won an exciting game 3-2 (0-0) against Ukraine on Sunday evening (June 13th) after a committed performance and positioned themselves behind Austria (3-1 against North Macedonia) and David Alaba in preliminary group C two.
It was the best game of this European Football Championship 2021 * so far.
The home team took the lead in Amsterdam through Georginio Wijnaldum (52nd minute), Wout Weghorst (59th) followed suit.
Then ex-BVB strikers Andrey Yarmolenko (75th) and Roman Yaremchuk (79th) shocked the clear favorite with a double strike before the outstanding Denzel Dumfries (85th) headed to victory.

Netherlands captain Georginio Wijnaldum * stuck in the penalty area for Dumfries.
But: The right-back failed in a one-on-one against Ukraine goalkeeper Heorhiy Bushchan.
After 13 minutes, Wijnaldum tried it himself - but the shot of the future PSG player rushed just over the bar towards the grandstand.
The Netherlands was from then on clearly determining the game, but the offensive actions lacked the ultimate consequence.
Bundesliga * striker Weghorst (VfL Wolfsburg *) also failed in front of Bushchan (27th minute).

It was the 25-year-old who prepared the 1-0 for the clear favorite.
The otherwise solid Bushchan let off one of his sharp crosses forwards - Wijnaldum accepted gratefully and shot the ball straight into the empty goal.
From then on only one team played, cheered on by the frenetic fans in orange.
