Roland-Garros was impacted by the Covid crisis for the second year in a row, but despite heavy health restrictions, the tournament was able to accommodate 100,000 spectators over the fortnight, for a financial record deemed "quite good" in view of the circumstances by the FFT.
"The figures for this edition, given the circumstances, are still quite good", described Sunday the general manager of the FFT, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra.
“Notably because we were able to welcome 100,000 spectators overall with around 80% general public tickets and 20% on hospitality and partner aspects, with audience figures which are absolutely remarkable.”
Compared to the turnover generated during the last editions organized under normal conditions and which amounted to around 260 million euros, the 2021 edition "should be around 180 million euros", ie a decline of around 80 million euros, she described.
The distribution of income has changed significantly, with a "media dimension that will represent almost 55% of tournament revenue this year, a little less than 30% for partnerships, and more anecdotally around 5% for ticketing, hospitality and claw. The media position is almost 15 percentage points above what is traditionally done, ”said Ms. Oudéa-Castéra.
