What a fortnight!

After her singles triumph less than 24 hours earlier, Czech Barbora Krejcikova won the Roland-Garros doubles tournament on Sunday noon, along with her compatriot Katerina Siniakova.

A double that the French Mary Pierce was the last to achieve in 2000.

In the final, on the Philippe-Chatrier court, Krejcikova and Siniakova beat the American-Polish pair made up of Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Iga Swiatek, 2020 winner in singles (6-4, 6-2). “It was difficult, there were so many emotions yesterday. I had to sleep. I woke up this morning, I was very tired. I feel the pain in my legs, it's true. I am happy, however, to have won both. I was really comfortable on the court today. I just tried to support my partner and then, also, I was there to give her the going, ”said the big revelation of this 2021 edition.

This is the third Grand Slam title in women's doubles for the future 15th in the world, who had already won in Paris in 2018 with the same partner.

In 2013, the same pair also emerged victorious in the juniors.

"The time has come for a small cup"

Only six players had so far achieved this individual and collective performance: Billie Jean King (1972), Margaret Court (1973), Chris Evert (1974, 1975), Virginia Ruzici (1978), Martina Navratilova (1982, 1984) and therefore Mary Pierce (2000).

Before starting her grass season, the Czech wants to take the time to savor.

“I think we're going to have dinner tonight together.

We might also have a glass or two of champagne.

I know I'm saying I'm not drinking, but now is the time for a small cup.

As for the rest, maybe I'll go home.

I need to rest, to spend time with my family.

After that, I will start to train again.

I hope that I will have opportunities to seize on the grass ”.
