He saw death very closely, Romain Grosjean.
It was in November 2020. While an F1 driver in the Haas team, the driver had lost control of his car after hitting a competitor.
By fitting into a rail, it had caught fire.
The pilot had miraculously managed to extricate himself from his car, after more than two minutes, suffering from burns to his hands.

It was his last Grand Prix.
The Franco-Swiss driver finally joined the American IndyCar Championship.
This Sunday, he was competing in the 2nd race of the Detroit Grand Prix.
And his misadventures must have brought back some memories to him.
With 12 laps remaining, the pilot faced technical problems.
The brakes on his car began to smoke, forcing him to give up.
He then stops his car, the smoke is getting darker and blacker.
When he got out of his car, flames erupted from the left front wheel.
Grosjean then rushes to grab a fire extinguisher, determined to extinguish the fire himself.
Security officials must have stopped him, and he was a little annoyed.
WOW.
Romain Grosjean - the man who walked out of fire last year - just ran back to his car on fire this time to try and put it out.
Remarkable stuff from @RGrosjean.

These astonishing images at least have the merit of showing that the pilot seems to have recovered perfectly from the drama of November.
The race was finally won by the young Mexican Pato O'Ward, 22, who started from 16th place on the starting grid.
He won his second race of the season and finished first overall.
With 99 points, Romain Grosjean is currently 23rd.
