Glasgow - If the goal of the tournament is discussed at the end of the European Football Championship 2021 *, the goal of the Czech Republic's Patrick Schick in the game against Scotland should be very high in the raffle.

It runs in the 52nd minute at Hampden Park in Glasgow *, where the second Group D game kicked off on Monday afternoon.

When the score was 1-0 for the Czech Republic, after a counterattack, Schick recognized early on that Scottish Kepper David Marshall was standing far in front of his box, looked briefly in the direction of the goal and aimed at the same from around 50 meters with a left-footed shot.

The bullet hits high in the box, Marshall can only look behind.

2-0 for the Czech selection.

The Scottish team, which is represented at a major tournament for the first time in 25 years and has planned so much for the appearance in front of home fans, starts the European Championship sobering.

Coach Steve Clarke's team failed to reward themselves for a courageous performance.

In the first half, the Scots were the slightly better team, Lyndon Dykes failed after a little more than fifteen minutes (18th).

With Liverpool professional Andrew Robertson, the Bravehearts had another good chance to take the lead.

Czech goalkeeper Thomas Vaclik steered the powerful long-range shot over the crossbar (32.)

There was little from the Czech team apart from a long-range shot by Leverkusen's Patrick Schick (16), but coach Jaroslav Silhavy's team struck shortly before half-time.

Darida (Hertha BSC) put with a lot of overview on the overflowing right-back Coufal, who in turn crossed with a lot of cut in the direction of five.

Schick won the header duel against two Scots and took the lead, which was not necessarily overdue at the time (42nd).

The second round then began furiously. First Marshall parried strongly against Schick and Darida (46th), then on the other side the crossbar after a Hendry attempt from 18 meters (48th), before a few moments later the Czech central defender Kalas with an unlucky ricochet in his own penalty area almost to 1: 1 (49th). In the middle of the Scottish urge phase, Schick then stabbed with his remarkable long-range shot.

Scotland * threatened to derail the game completely after a dangerous Darida conclusion (55th), but the Bravehearts shook themselves briefly and gained an overweight in midfield.

Manchester United's Scott McTominay and left-back Robertson in particular took over the game.

The substitute after half-time Che Adams (Southampton) also acted as an invigorating element compared to the pale Christie.

As a result, the chances increased, but remained unused.

An Armstrong shot was blocked (61st), a shot by Dykes was heavily defused by Vaclik (67th).

In the final phase, McTominay then missed a volley in the five (77th) and Forrest didn't get the ball in the box either (84th).

In stoppage time the Czechs * still had the chance to make it 3-0, which would have been too high.

EM 2021: Czech Republic now level on points with England, Scotland under pressure

Scotland knew how to convince in a fighting manner and showed playful approaches, but missed out on combining a hundred percent chances.

The Czech Republic ultimately deserves a balanced game because it was the clever and, in the offensive game, more straightforward team.

And because they knew Leverkusen's Patrick Schick * was the man of the game in their ranks.

The Czech Republic leads Group D * at the European Championship and, like England, has three points on the account. Both teams will continue on Friday (June 18) when the Czechs can buy their ticket to the round of 16 against Croatia (6 p.m.) and Scotland will meet England (9 p.m.) in the long-awaited neighborhood duel.
