The European Football Championship will soon start in the Allianz Arena.

But before the Germany game, Munich's mayor rider once again urged caution.

Munich - The German national team at the European Football Championship will soon start.

The first opponent in the group stage will be France.

14,500 fans can watch the spectacle live in the arena in Fröttmaning.

So that everything runs smoothly at the football festival, Munich's Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD) warned fans to adhere to the Corona rules.

EM 2021: Munich's mayor rider appeals to compliance with the corona rules

On Monday, June 14, the Robert Koch Institute gives an incidence value of 18.1 for the Bavarian capital. The coronavirus seems to have taken a summer break. Nevertheless, football fans should adhere to a few rules - this also includes keeping their distance. "You don't necessarily have to lie in each other's arms, you can also just throw up your arms and cheer," said the SPD town hall chief in an interview with the

Süddeutsche Zeitung

. Reiter is not very worried that a corona outbreak could actually occur during the game on Tuesday.

A superspreader event is to be prevented by a strict hygiene concept, especially around and in the stadium.

"But at the celebrations afterwards, we can't provide gaps, we can't even time that out," warned the 63-year-old.

The local politician is also concerned about the events of the past few weeks - for example the violent attacks in the English Garden.

“We will look closely and analyze what we can or must regulate differently,” he said.

Before and after each game there will therefore be a crisis team with the police.

EM 2021: Reiter expects economic loss due to the Corona requirements

With all caution, however, Reiter's anticipation of the four European Championship games in Munich prevails. After last year it was "a good signal to see sporty entertainment again that distracts people a bit," he emphasized. The limited number of spectators would probably not pay off, according to the town hall chief. Economically, a “severe loss” is to be expected. Normally the games would be sold out - hotels and restaurants would be full. “These revenues cannot be achieved that way, of course,” said Reiter.

Before the Allianz Arena starts, Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU), Mayor Reiter, Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann and Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (both CSU) will take a look at the situation on site.

With the managing director of DFB EURO GmbH Philipp Lahm, the DFB vice-president Dr.

Rainer Koch and Munich Police President Thomas Hampel take a tour of the stadium.

A press conference is then scheduled for 1:20 p.m.
