During the European Championship game between Germany and France, a Greenpeace activist landed on the arena lawn and almost injured the French coach.
Munich - As is so often the case at major events, the German opening game at the European Championship was used by a non-profit organization for an action.
This went very wrong, however, as a Greenpeace activist got stuck with his paraglider and injured two people.
The French coach was almost a victim of the falling paraglider, but was still able to get himself out of the danger zone.
EM 2021: France's coach Didier Deschamps is almost hit by a falling Greenpeace activist
As the TV images showed, the world champion trainer from 2018 was almost hit by parts of the paraglider after the activist got caught in the wire ropes attached to the stadium roof for the camera and fell uncontrollably to the ground.
A few moments before the game kicked off, Deschamps seemed very focused, pacing around his coaching zone with his hands in his pockets and looking at his dugout one more time.

But suddenly he took notice of the activist on his right.
The 52-year-old had to duck as a result and holed up under the small roof of the coaching bench.
Shortly afterwards, parts of the paraglider hit exactly in front of the French bank, but apparently none of the participants was hit.
EM 2021: France coach Didier Deschamps almost injured by a paraglider - "Could have been more serious"
Deschamps was able to prevent worse by fleeing under the bench, but it was easy to injure his head, as it turned out later. Even the Spanish referee Carlos del Cerro Grande asked the coach, who initially grabbed his forehead and temple, but was able to continue without any problems. The national coach of the Équipe Tricolore later commented on his slight injury and said: “When I sought refuge with Guy (Stephan, co-trainer, editor's note), I hit the bench. I have a small bump, it's nothing ”. But Deschamps did not want to downplay the scene either. “It could have been more serious. That doesn't have to be the case, ”added the 2000 European champion.
The 1-0 victory of his team in the first European Championship group game lifted the mood at Deschamps after the initial shock.
After the game, he attested that both teams were of high quality and concentrated on the sporting aspects of the evening.
