Direction Brittany for Michel Der Zakarian. The former Montpellier coach has indeed signed up with Stade Brestois where he replaced

In place in Montpellier for four years, Michel Der Zakarian, 58, announced his departure from Hérault in early May, shortly before the end of the championship.

With the four-season contract coming to an end, both parties decided to stop there.

A month and a half later, the former Nantes player was quick to find a new destination: Stade Brestois.

A Breton club which had also recorded the judgment of its trainer Olivier Dall'Oglio, to whom there was still a year of contract.

At 57, the one who had coached Dijon for six years and won the rise in Ligue 1 in 2016, decided to give a new direction to his career by signing in ... Montpellier, where he will replace Der Zakarian.

An announcement made at the beginning of June.

It is therefore an improbable switch that the clubs of Montpellier and Brest made by exchanging their respective coaches.

He had helped save his new club

In Brest, Michel Der Zakarian was at the top of a short list also made up of Jocelyn Gourvennec, without a club since May 2019 and his departure from Guingamp, and David Guion, the former coach of the Stade de Reims.

Breton leaders have reached an agreement with him for a two-year contract with an option of one more year.

In Finistère, Der Zakarian, who also coached Clermont, Nantes and Reims before Montpellier, will arrive with his staff.

Ironically, it was by beating Nantes (2-1) on the last day of Ligue 1 on May 23 with Montpellier, that Michel Der Zakarian saved the head of his new club, which then snatched 17th place, despite a loss against PSG.

It is therefore with their new coach that the Bretons will resume training on June 28.
