Japan's world number two Naomi Osaka has announced that she will not participate in the English Wimbledon Championships, the third Grand Slam in tennis.
Sky Sports quoted Naomi's agent as saying in a statement: "Naomi will not be playing at Wimbledon this year, spending time with friends and family. She will be Olympic-ready and excited to play in front of her home fans in Tokyo."
Osaka withdrew from the French Open last month despite winning the first round after organizers fined her for refusing to attend post-match press conferences.
Osaka, 23, explained that the successive questions from journalists after the matches affect her mental and psychological health, noting that she has suffered from long bouts of depression since winning her first major title in 2018.
