Maccabi Tel Aviv Championship Celebrations (Photo by Lilach Weiss)
Maccabi Tel Aviv ended the 2020/21 season on Tuesday (Thursday) with a championship win, and yesterday the team's players began returning to the United States.
In addition, club chairman Shimon Mizrahi flew to Barcelona for a Euroleague shareholders 'meeting, as will coach Yannis Sapropoulos at the Euroleague coaches' meeting earlier this week.
While the Yellows have finished the championship celebrations this weekend, they are expected to make a move in the coming days. While currently four players hold a contract with no exit option, Scotty Wilbkin, Ante Žižić, John DiBortolmio and Angelo Cloiaro, with the first two there is no doubt that they will continue, and for the last two the trend is to keep them for another season.

But Maccabi Tel Aviv also has quite a few question marks among the current players, and while regarding the foreign player market the options are diverse, regarding the Israeli options of the team, the options are much more limited. Yuval Sussman and his representative Nadav Moore are expected to meet soon with the group's management regarding a new contract, while at the same time seriously considering moving to Europe. The option on TJ Klein will not be exercised, Sandy Cohen is expected to leave and Omri Caspi is considering retirement. Oz Blazer finished the season badly, and it seems that the chances of him continuing for a second season are not high. The youngsters Idan Albert and Yonatan Atias went out on loan and there is a high chance that Dori Sahar will do the same.
Jake Cohen will be the first Israeli player to sign with the team. The conditions of the citizen, whose candidacy we published a few weeks ago, have been agreed in principle, and the club will step up a move in order to sign him.
In some positions in Maccabi Tel Aviv, decisions will be made to strengthen after deciding on the existing players.
Max Heidegger who belongs to the team will probably only return if it is decided not to keep John Dibertolomeo, otherwise he will be loaned for another season.
On the other hand, the club will have to make a decision whether to try and make a move on Noam Dovrat, when such a move may cost about a million shekels just for his release from Rishon Lezion, or try and sign Yiftach Ziv, who is aiming for Europe.
Another option is to continue without a natural Israeli coordinator.
He is also a candidate.

If the contacts with Yuval Sussman do not succeed, the team is expected to try and add an Israeli player to the squad in this position as well.
Two main candidates are on the table - Rafi Manko, who was relegated with the French questionnaire, and Golan Gut, who ended his contract with Maccabi Rishon Lezion.
If it is decided not to exercise the option on Blazer and Caspi does not continue, Maccabi Tel Aviv may return to the option of Roman Sorkin, who was very close to signing last season.
The team will also have to make a decision regarding Idan Zalmanson, who automatically returned to the club.
If Zalmanson is not signed to a new contract, he will be released from the club.
