Peiting - In recent years, the EC Peiting always opened its summer training with an entrance test to determine the fitness values of the players. That has changed under the new coach Anton Saal. “The test only takes place on the ice,” explained Saal. Since this year the preparation is a little longer than in the past due to the somewhat later start of the season on October 8th with seven weeks, he then has enough time to iron out one or the other deficit in his protégés.
Until the ice training starts, as of today this will be from August 20th, the Peitinger players will meet once a week for joint training.
“We started doing this in mid-April,” reports Saal.
Various activities are on the program.
"Fieseln" is particularly popular with the players.
“A good level of fitness is required”, this summer version of the ice hockey game is good endurance training for Saal.
ECP-Trainer Saal relies on personal responsibility
Otherwise, during summer training, he relies on the personal responsibility of the players who keep themselves fit individually. Some have also formed their own small training group for this purpose. This includes, for example, returnees Marco Habermann, who has teamed up with Ty Morris and the two Latta brothers Louis and Nick, who are employed in Weiden, to train together.
In terms of personnel, nothing has changed at the ECP in the past few days. After the signing of defender Christoph Frankenberg from league competitor SC Riessersee, the squad is largely complete. It is still unclear how things will go on with Dominic Krabbat, Tim Rohrbach and Andreas Magg, who had not received a game approval from their employer due to the corona pandemic last season. “We have to see how the situation develops. First we have to wait and have more discussions, ”said Saal. The new trainer and those responsible for ECP still have to be patient in this regard.
