President of Al Wahda Club Maher Al-Sayed confirmed that the administration is seeking, through its contract with coach Maher Bahri, to lead the men's football team to compete for the league, cup and Asian championships.
During the press conference held today at the club’s headquarters in Damascus, Al-Sayed explained that the board of directors is interested in all games and not only in football. The basketball team will play next Thursday with the army team in the semi-finals of the league championship and its ambition is to reach the final and win the title, as is the case of the volleyball team that He is one step away from the title, too, after his victory over his rival Al-Salamiah yesterday, with a score of three to one.
Al-Sayed touched on the subject of the former Al Wahda club player Omar Khribin’s contract with the Emirati Al Dhafra Club and his transfer from Al Dhafra to the Saudi Al Hilal in 2017, saying, after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) approved our right to collect an amount (one million three hundred and 12 thousand and 765 dollars), an agreement was signed with Al Dhafra Club to receive the amount in installments and the first payment was received.
For his part, coach Maher Bahri said: Training the Al Wahda team is a pride for any coach because it is an ancient club and has large fans who love its team, pointing out that the ambition is to achieve the league and cup championship, stressing at the same time that he will do everything he can to achieve this goal if the elements of success are available.
It is noteworthy that Al Wahda won the Republic Cup championship last season and finished fourth in the League Championship with 47 points.
