After two defeats at the beginning, Denmark made it into the round of 16 of the European Football Championship.
Due to the 4: 1 (1: 0) against Russia and the defeat of the Finns against Belgium, the Danes in Group B jumped from fourth to second.
Mikkel Damsgaard (38th minute of the game), Yussuf Poulsen (59th), Andreas Christensen (80th) and Joakim Mæhle (82nd) scored for Denmark, Artyom Dzyuba reduced the penalty (70th).
Denmark will face Wales in Amsterdam next Saturday.
Russia was eliminated in fourth place.
The Danes needed a win of their own and a simultaneous win by Belgium in the parallel game against Finland to have a chance of the round of 16.
Accordingly, Denmark started the game aggressively, with the support of more than 20,000 spectators in Copenhagen.
The hosts initially had almost 70 percent possession of the ball, but for a long time did not create good scoring opportunities.

After the break, the game was balanced - until Roman Zobnin wanted to play a back pass to his goalkeeper without looking.
Poulsen was faster on the inaccurate back pass and only needed to push into the empty goal (59th).
Then it got very emotional on the square.
First, the yellow-biased Fedor Kudryashov did not fly off with yellow-red despite holding an opponent's jersey (65th), then the Russians were awarded a controversial penalty (68th).
Dzyuba transformed (70th).
However, the Danes were not impressed by this, but actively played for the third goal.
After a couple of good chances, Christensen first scored with a forceful shot (80th), then Mæhle made the decision (82nd).
