Serena Williams will not represent the US at the Tokyo Olympics.
The 23-time Grand Slam winner answered a question at a press conference before the start of the main round of Wimbledon.
“I'm actually not on the Olympic list, at least not that I know of.
And if I do, then I shouldn't stand on it, ”said the 39-year-old.
Williams did not want to comment on the reasons.
"Maybe another time," she said simply.
Williams first represented the USA at the 2000 Summer Games in Sydney.
At that time, she won the Olympic gold medal in doubles with sister Venus.
The sisters also succeeded in doing the same in Beijing in 2008 and 2012. Serena Williams also won gold in the singles in London.
