Swiss Roger Federer qualified for the second round of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships after his opponent, Adrien Mannarino, withdrew due to a knee injury.
Federer imposed a play-off set with his opponent, who decided to withdraw through injury when the score was 6/4, 6/7, 3/6, 6/2.
Mannarino fell while trying to return the ball to a sprain in his right knee. The French player received treatment on the main court and returned to complete the set before making his decision not to continue.
Federer will next face the winner of the French Richard Gasquet and Japanese Yuichi Sugita.
