The two teams drew 1-1 in normal time, but the course of the last round of 16 matches turned in the Ukraine's favor when Sweden's defender Marcus Danielson was sent off for a violent interference after nine minutes of extra time.
Oleksandr Zinchenko's left-footed shot gave Ukraine the lead in the 27th minute, but Emil Forsberg equalized for Sweden with a shot from the edge of the penalty area that switched direction and found the net two minutes before the break.
