Danny Abdia talks about his relationship with Russell Westbrook (The Wizards' Twitter account)

Danny Abdia continues to recover from the injury that caused him to miss the final months of the NBA season, and tonight (Thursday through Friday) he is back on the field - just a different kind.

The Israeli basketball player came up to throw the ceremonial shot before the game of the Washington baseball team, the Nationals, in a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers that was broadcast in the United States from coast to coast.

This is a well-known American tradition, and Abdia, who may be a little less familiar with the rules of the industry, hoped to throw the ball a little more accurately than John Wells, a former Wizards player who had received the same respect in the past but his inaccurate shot became a joke.

Eventually, his shot was caught by Nationals catcher Joe Ross.

"I just did something very, very exciting in the United States, I threw the first baseball ball. I really enjoyed it, the main thing was that I didn't screw up, I brought it where it needed to be and that's all that matters," Abdia told the Washington Wizards website in Hebrew after the kind gesture.
