Without the two-time shot put world champion David Storl, the German athletes fly to Tokyo.
This emerges from the further nomination list with 108 athletes published by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) on Saturday.
The line-up includes 81 athletes.
The seven substitutes on the track and field team also include Vice European Champion Gina Lückenkemper, who recently fought with a torn thigh, and Christoph Harting.
The brother of 2012 Olympic champion Robert Harting had never been able to build on this success since his triumph in Rio in 2016 and was also overtaken by the national competition this season.
The 31-year-old can only move up if Daniel Jasinski, Clemens Prüfer or David Wrobel are absent.
After Olympic javelin thrower Thomas Röhler from Jena canceled due to back problems, Jasinski, who won bronze five years ago, is the only remaining medalist from Brazil in 2016.
As expected, the DLV did not nominate a shot putter.
The Leipzig 30-year-old Storl, silver medalist in 2012, has not contested a competition this season due to a back injury and missed the games.
Hopes rest on Mihambo, Kaul and Vetter
The DLV team is led by long jump world champion Malaika Mihambo, decathlon world champion Niklas Kaul and the currently outstanding javelin thrower Johannes Vetter.
Almost three weeks before the opening ceremony of the games (23 July to 8 August), the Germany team now includes 438 athletes - if the basketball players manage the current qualification.
"Despite the difficult conditions in recent months and the postponement of the games, Team Germany has reached a team size similar to that in Rio five years ago," said Dirk Schimmelpfennig, Chef de Mission in Tokyo.
