Archery - rules for the 2021 Olympics
Archery was part of the Olympic program as early as 1900, and archers also competed in the games in 1904, 1908 and 1920.
Then there was a long turning point until the sport was finally resumed as an Olympic discipline in 1972.
Only the recurve bow is admitted to the Olympic Games: other bow classes are permitted outside of the Olympic competition.
The rules stipulate that the shooter stands on a baseline and shoots at the target over a distance of 70 meters.
The overlay to be hit has a diameter of 122 centimeters, with the inner circle, for which the shooter can credit himself ten points, has a diameter of just twelve centimeters.
Archery - tournament mode in the Olympic Games
In the individual archery competition, all participants shoot 72 arrows. The points result in the rank in the seeding list. Then it goes on for the shooters in the co-system. It is important to achieve a certain number of sentence points. In each set three (mixed four, team six) arrows are shot individually, the participant with the higher number of points wins the set and receives two points. If the number of points is the same, both shooters receive one point. In the individual competition, six points must be achieved in order to advance to the next round, in the mixed and team competition five. If the score is 5: 5 in the individual and 4: 4 in the team competition, there is a tiebreak. Each participant shoots an arrow individually, the better one goes to the next round. In team competitions, each member shoots an arrow. The team, whose arrow is closest to the center wins the match.
