Syria's ambition in the Olympic Games is the same as the ambition of the countries participating in the games to achieve good results, climb to the podiums in the largest international forum and win medals.

In a statement to SANA, Muhammad Al-Hayek, member of the Executive Office and General Administration of the mission participating in the Olympics, said that the competition to achieve medals will not be easy, but qualifying for a major sports tournament such as the Olympics is an achievement in itself and that every athlete in the world aspires to, expressing his happiness with the participation of one player and five players in this World sporting event.

Al-Hayek explained that our participation in the Olympics came at the expense of a large number of countries in a number of games, especially in light of the reduction in the number of participating players as a result of precautionary measures due to the outbreak of the Corona epidemic globally, hoping that our players would follow the example of our hero Ghada Shuaa, who previously won a historic gold in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Pointing out that the Syrian participation in the Tokyo Olympics is not limited to the sports aspect only, as the Olympic Games constitute an opportunity for global convergence and cultural exchange and acquaintance among the peoples of the world.

The Olympic Games will see 339 competitions in 33 sports at 41 different venues including Japan National Stadium, Tokyo Stadium and Yokohama Stadium. There are five new Olympic sports in Tokyo 2021: baseball, softball, karate, sports climbing, surfing and skateboarding, and nine new mixed events have been introduced to the program. Olympic Games in seven sports: Judo (mixed teams), triathlon (mixed relay), athletics (4 hit 400m relay), archery (mixed), table tennis (mixed doubles), archery (10m air rifle mixed team, 10m air pistol mixed team, and trap team mixed) and swimming (4 times 100m medley relay).
