The Peruvian national team beat Paraguay 3–4 on penalties to reach the semi-finals of the Copa America soccer tournament in Brazil, and set a date with the Seleção team, which defeated defending champion Chile 1-0.

The two teams resorted to penalty kicks after the match ended in its original and extra time, with three goals each.

David Martinez, Brian Samdio and Alberto Espinola missed three kicks for Paraguay, while Miguel Traocco sealed Peru's semi-final spot for the second time in a row after teammates Santiago Urmeno and Cristian Cueva missed two.

Argentina plays Ecuador and Uruguay against Colombia in the quarter-finals today.
