The 98 world champion, disembarking from Nice at the end of 2020, bounces back in the Premier League.

He returns to England.

Disembarking from Nice in December after two and a half seasons at the head of the Aiglons, Patrick Vieira was officially appointed coach of Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The London club announced, via a statement posted on social media, that the former midfielder had signed a three-year contract to lead a team which finished the last Premier League year in fourteenth place.

At 45, the world and European champion with the Blues will exercise for the first time in the elite of English football, where he lived his best hours of his career with Arsenal.

He took his first technical steps in 2013 at Manchester City, where he took charge of the reserve team at the club which saw him play his last season as a player (2010-2011).

He then moved across the Atlantic to coach New York City FC before joining Nice in 2018.

"I am very excited by this opportunity to return to the Premier League and to lead this great club where we are going to start a new chapter together," explains Patrick Vieira in the press release from Crystal Palace, where French defender Mamadou Sakho played this season.

It is a very attractive project, to have exchanged with the president and the sports director on their ambitions and their plan for the whole club, including the training center.

"

The name of Patrick Vieira had been mentioned on the side of Lille, where the French champion has not yet communicated the identity of the successor of Christophe Galtier, who left for Nice.
