PSG: a resumption of training in dispersed order

2021-07-05T14:00:05.179Z

The Parisians are back on their way to training this Monday afternoon at Camp des Loges. But between the Euro, the Copa America and the holidays

Six weeks after a last success in Brest (2-0), insufficient to overtake Lille at the top of the championship, the Parisians are back in service.

This Monday afternoon, they have an appointment at the Camp des Loges, in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, for the start of a new and rich season.

Unsurprisingly, this recovery will be marked by many absences.

Neither the Euro nor the Copa America are indeed over and those who are part of the eliminated selections are finally enjoying a well-deserved vacation, after an endless 2020-2021 season.

Thus, Mauricio Pochettino will still have to wait to find his main executives in the locker room.

On the Copa America side, Brazilians Neymar and Marquinhos, and Argentines Paredes and Di Maria alongside Messi, are indeed qualified for the semi-finals.

They are therefore still far from Yvelines, especially since at least three weeks of vacation await them afterwards.

Ditto on the side of the Euro where Pablo Sarabia (Spain) and Marco Verratti (Italy) have an appointment this Tuesday in the semifinals, at Wembley, even if the first remains uncertain due to a problem with the adductor.

PSG: a 2020-2021 season with a taste of unfinished business

For those disappointed with the Euro like Danilo (Portugal), Kimpembe and Mbappé (France), it's vacation time.

The Blues striker could make his return the week of July 26.

Ditto for the first official signing of the summer, Georginio Wijnaldum, the Dutch midfielder.

On the program, physical tests and PCR test

A little less than thirty players are therefore expected this Monday.

Starting with the… eight goalkeepers: Navas, Rico, Areola, Bulka, Innocent, Franchi, Randriamamy, Letellier.

Many will be loaned again this season.

Especially since the Italian Donnarumma, who has already spent his medical visit in Italy, is expected at the end of the Euro.

As such, we will closely monitor the attitude of Keylor Navas who did not appreciate the recruitment of a real competitor.

It will also be necessary to know if his right shoulder, affected in Brest, is fully recovered.

For the rest, Pochettino will be able to count initially on Kehrer, Bernat, Kurzawa, Diallo, Bakker, Dagba, Bitshiabu, Rafinha, Herrera, Draxler, Gueye, Michut, Simons, Fadiga, Ebimbe, Gharbi, Nagera, Icardi and Kalimuendo.

They may soon be joined by Sergio Ramos.

Italian striker Moïse Kean, not selected for the Euro, wanted to return at the end of his loan.

But for lack of agreement for the moment with Everton, he will not be there yet.

Ditto for Alessandro Florenzi, currently at the Euro, owned by AS Rome and who could bear the brunt of the upcoming arrival of Moroccan side Achraf Hakimi.

This beginning of the week will be devoted to the physical tests that the players will perform before being able to train. A PCR test should also be performed beforehand. The Parisians will have less than a month to prepare their first official meeting: the Champions Trophy against Lille, Sunday August 1, which is still scheduled to be held in Tel Aviv. Ligue 1 will start in Troyes, the weekend of August 8. The program of friendly matches is "still to be determined" according to PSG. Five are planned, including at least two behind closed doors at the Camp des Loges against Le Mans (July 14) and Chambly (July 17).
