Seeshaupt - Compared to the other, quite stately boats that swim in the water or lie on land with the sailors of FC Seeshaupt, the latest new acquisition looks almost a little modest, at least for the layman. But the white motorboat with the hose bodies on the left and right - pardon me: port and starboard - is an eminently important piece of equipment for the department. Because it enables the youth work to be continued at an appealing level.
When the children and young people go out on the water with their optimists and lasers for training and regattas, they have to be accompanied.
And that happens with such motorized trainer and training boats, of which the club has now bought a new one.
"Ultra-modern and state-of-the-art," says Andreas Walther from the FCSS.
There is joy in his voice when he reports about it.
"All the better if you can now accompany the training with such a boat."

Working with young talent is very important to FC sailors. The club, which has around 150 members, has been inviting people to the “Youth Week” at the beginning of the summer holidays for years, where newcomers are introduced to sailing within four days. The interest is great: last year all places were taken - youth warden Thomas Peter and his crew took care of 26 participants between the ages of nine and 14 years. With his youth work “FC doesn't have to hide from other clubs,” emphasizes Walther.
And because the new coaching boat is something special, the club has designed the official commissioning accordingly: with a christening of the ship in front of an audience and musical accompaniment. Mayor Fritz Egold also came. Christian Kenter, the 1st chairman of the FCSS, thanked him because the community subsidized the purchase. A trainer boat in the present configuration costs around 25,000 euros. A name for the vehicle had been sought among the FC youth - Anni Limpert's suggestion (“Flotte Lotte”) finally won the race. The godmother christened the decorated boat, but for good reasons the champagne bottle crashing against the ship's wall was dispensed with. A few splashes on the bow did too.
The FCSS, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2018, now has two such boats. The older model called “Flitzer” will continue to be used. The coaching boats are also used regularly in regattas. The three neighboring clubs in Seeshaupt - the FCSS, the Yacht Club (YCSS) and the Oberland Sailing Club (SVOS) - support each other if necessary.
