On the DFB website you can read: "The DFB team wants to point out that it is our daily task to stand up for human rights."

revealed, the DFB * is now negotiating a partnership with Qatar Airways.
Demonstrate for human rights, but at the same time get millions from Qatar?

The hosting of the Winter World Cup 2022 in the small desert state has not just been the cause of fierce criticism since yesterday - there are virtually no human rights for local workers, and homosexuality is a criminal offense.
FC Bayern * is already regularly criticized for its partnership with one of the most important companies in the desert state.
Then why does the DFB go into this minefield?
The answer is not difficult: of course it's about money.
For decades, the DFB kickers have been flying around the world for free because of an advertising deal with Lufthansa.
However, the corona crisis hit the group hard - the consequence: No more free flights for the DFB.
And because the DFB is also experiencing massive economic losses, sponsorship alternatives are now needed.

DFB in the crossfire of criticism - "Thought it couldn't be more embarrassing"
The fact that people seem to find what they are looking for in the emirate of all places meets with great incomprehension - and further contributes to the DFB's already battered image. On Twitter, among other things, many fans vent their anger. "These are reasons why nobody likes the DFB," suspects one user. “I thought it couldn't get any more embarrassing after the European Championship ended,” says another angry. “What is that supposed to mean?” Is an uncomprehending question. “With human rights jerseys and rainbow armbands on the Qatar Airways plane. The DFB would like to reach a whole new level when it comes to hypocrisy ”, so another comment.
The national players themselves can of course little - at least Toni Kroos and Leon Goretzka clearly name the problems.
“I think it's wrong that the World Cup was awarded to Qatar.
Many workers have to toil nonstop at 50 degrees Celsius, with insufficient nutrition and a lack of drinking water.
That is madness ”, denounced the now resigned Kroos.
"We want to make it clear to society that we do not approve of the conditions that exist there," emphasized Goretzka after the T-shirt campaign.
The World Cup in Qatar will probably take place anyway - and Leon Goretzka will also board the Qatar plane if in doubt.
