Novak Djokovic is in the Wimbledon final.

The world number one won 7: 6 (7: 3), 7: 5, 7: 5 against the Canadian Denis Shapovalov.

On Sunday (2 p.m., live ticker SPIEGEL.de; TV: Sky) the Serb meets Matteo Berrettini, there Djokovic reaches for his 20th Grand Slam title.

With that he would draw level with the record holders Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

Shapovalov was the braver player in the first set, surprised Djokovic with strong stop balls, and the backhand also worked partly outstanding.

A break in the meantime could not save Shapovalov to the finish - and neither did the mini break at the beginning of the tie break.

Because there were more mistakes, Shapovalov ended the first set with a double mistake.

Djokovic is vulnerable

Djokovic was repeatedly vulnerable in his own service games, Shapovalov simply did not know how to use his chances.

That's why Shapovalov knew when he got caught up in loud discussions with the chair umpire after the second sentence.

Djokovic often only defended, somehow bringing the balls back.

The longer the rallies lasted, the more aggressive Shapovalov became.

As a result, he made significantly more mistakes.

In the end, Shapovalov hit 36 ​​unforced errors, Djokovic only 15.

Although the game only lasted three sets, Djokovic used his first match point after a relatively long 2:44 hours to reach his 30th Grand Slam final.

After the game, Djokovic also said: "The result says nothing about the game," Shapovalov had played so well.
