Novak Djokovic won the final at Wimbledon.

The world number one prevailed 6: 7 (4: 7), 6: 4, 6: 4, 6: 3 against the Italian Matteo Berrettini.

Djokovic won the most important grass tournament in the world for the third time in a row, it was his sixth Wimbledon victory overall.

The Serb now has 20 Grand Slam titles, so Djokovic draws level with the record holders Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

Djokovic had already won the Australian Open and the French Open this year.

Djokovic made three double mistakes early in the game, but still started better than Berrettini.

In the fourth game, the Serb won the break, then took a 4-1 lead and was about to quickly win the set.

But the Italian fought his way back and first equalized at 5: 5, only to save himself in the tie-break - and there after 71 minutes he won the first set with an ace.

In the second set, too, it took Berrettini a while to find his way into the game.

The 25-year-old had Djokovic's first two service games.

Berrettini only managed his own break when the score was 2: 5, after which the number nine in the world fended off three set balls on his own serve.

The set compensation was only postponed: Djokovic managed his next service with ease.

Djokovic proves strong nerves

In the third set, Djokovic managed another early break, after winning the game to 2-1, the 34-year-old tapped his forehead.

Djokovic still lived up to his claim to want to decide the final with his strong nerves: Djokovic fended off Berrettini's only two break chances in the set by taking advantage of the weak pass ball attempts of his opponent.

Djokovic also earned more important points in the fourth and last set: With a score of 2: 3, he fought off several supposedly easy opportunities for Berrettini to win points in a spectacular rally and thus prevented two breakballs for the Italian.

A little later Djokovic made the decisive break to 4: 3, Berrettini then found no way back into the match.
