The whole of Germany celebrates the EM suffering of the English.
And that's just pathetic, comments our author Carolin Huber.
I would like to make one thing clear right at the beginning: The European Championship * has found a deserved winner in Italy.
I don't question that for a second.
And I'm happy for all the fans of the Squadra Azzurra, who celebrated all night after the triumph on penalties.
My heartfelt congratulations.
As an Italian in Germany these days you have to have the feeling that the old rivalry (semi-finals 2006, does anyone remember?) Has been forgotten.
Peace, joy, spaghetti Bolognese.
But nobody should be fooled by this: Most Germany fans
are
not
happy
for the Italians, they simply delight in the suffering of the defeated Englishmen.
And that's nothing but pathetic.
Anyone who now wishes all English people suffering has not understood anything about sportsmanship
No, I neither approve of Raheem Sterling's increasingly desperate flight deposits nor do I defend them.
No, I do not stand behind the English government, which, despite immense incidence figures, has declared the corona virus to be over and packed Wembley Stadium.
And there is no question about it: the video of so-called "fans" of the Three Lions being beaten is absolutely shameful.
But whoever stands up now and says that for this reason alone he would allow all Englishmen to suffer great suffering has understood no more of sportsmanship than these idiots.
In the hour of triumph, people show their true colors
There are always two sides of the same coin: For some, England is a country full of football idiots that dared to knock Germany out of the tournament.
For me and other island lovers, however, England is dry humor and lovable eccentricity, brought forth in a beautiful language.
England is tea and cider and scones;
high life in London and walks in beautiful Cornwall.
As a Bayern fan that I once was *, I learned: Most people show their true colors in the hour of triumph. And many of the faces I see now lack any trace of grandeur. Just as the Italians deserve to enjoy their victory, the Three Lions supporters deserve to lick their wounds in peace. So please: Just leave us alone with your disgusting glee.
