The French pharmaceutical group has become one of the main sponsors of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games to be held in Paris

A large company serving a large sporting event.

And good news for Paris 2024. The French pharmaceutical group Sanofi has joined the circle of so-called “premium” partners of the 2024 Olympic Games. It is the fourth sponsor of this first circle after Orange, EDF and the banking group BPCE (Banque Populaire - Caisse Savings).

The partnership agreement was announced on Tuesday by Serge Weinberg and Paul Hudson, president and CEO of Sanofi, and Tony Estanguet, president of Paris 2024.

At the key for Paris 2024, a check between 80 and 150 million euros, according to estimates. This is the price to pay for companies that want to be elevated to the rank of premium partner. Applicant companies must achieve an annual turnover of more than 500 million euros. Total had applied to join this first circle before giving up in the face of the reluctance of the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo. There are now four of them, but there is still a lack of sponsors to complete the budget by 2024.

The Paris 2024 “private partners” budget is indeed 1.08 billion euros, or around 30% of the total budget for the organization (3.8 billion), and corresponds almost entirely to private revenue (ticketing and contribution of the IOC in addition to the sponsors).

There is still around 500 million euros in sponsorship missing.

Two other ranks of partnership exist: the official partners, where we find for example La Française des Jeux or Le Coq Sportif, as well as the global partners, 13 in number, with among others Airbnb, Toyota and Visa.

"I am happy that a leading French company like Sanofi is joining the Paris 2024 adventure," said Tony Estanguet.

Sanofi's mobilization alongside us will enable us to promote the Games project throughout France, to share the benefits of sport with as many people as possible, and to contribute to a more active and healthier society.
