Swiss tennis star Roger Federer has officially announced his withdrawal from the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
Federer confirmed through his official account on the social networking site "Twitter" that he will miss the Tokyo Olympics for the first time due to the injury he sustained during his participation in the summer season in grass courts.
Federer, 39, said he hopes to return to competition later this summer when the US Open begins on August 31.
The Olympic Games will start in Tokyo on the 23rd of this month and will continue until the eighth of next August, and its organizers announced that it will be held in conjunction with Japan's declaration of a state of emergency in the capital that will continue throughout the Olympics period to combat the Corona pandemic.
