Difficult 2020/21 season

The 23-year-old joined SCR last December.

He had only heard positive things beforehand, including from his brother Bastian.

Seven months later Eckl takes stock and can say: “I was not disappointed.” Although he was not completely convincing in the white and blue jersey, the club officials assume that he will make up for this in the next season.

“Last season was not an easy one for him.

Christoph was without a club for a long time and was therefore unable to complete proper preparation or participate in team training, ”emphasizes Managing Director Pana Christakakis.

For him, Eckl's wish to stay with the SCR is also a confirmation.

“That also shows us that we are a valued location for young talents.” But not only the club itself was decisive for Eckl's decision in favor of Riessersee.

But also the relaxed walks through the town or a cappuccino with my brother Bastian are perfect as a counterbalance to ice hockey. "

Eckl wants to radiate more goal danger

With a view to the coming season, the 1.85 meter tall and 86 kilogram heavy defender not only wants to contribute to defensive stability, but also wants to be able to read his name more and more on the scorerboard. “I want to work on my goal threat as a defender next year.” If he succeeds, one thing must of course not be missing: the spectators. "I would of course be very happy if fans come to the stadium again to celebrate one or the other goal with them." With Eckl, who enjoyed his training with the young eagles Mannheim, played for the junior national teams of the U16 to U18 and also can refer to 54 DEL2 games, the SCR now has four defenders in its squad for the 21/22 season.
