Belarusian tennis player Victoria Azarenka, who won the mixed doubles gold in London 2012, announced her withdrawal from the Tokyo Olympics.
In a post on her account on the social networking site, Azarenka indicated that her decision to withdraw came due to the difficulties she is facing as a result of the Corona pandemic, noting that she is eagerly looking forward to representing Belarus at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
Azarenka joins a long list of tennis stars who have decided not to participate in the Olympics, which includes Swiss Roger Federer, Spain's Rafael Nadal, Austrian Dominic Thiem, Australian Nick Kyrgios, Canadian Denis Shapovalov, Belgium's David Goffin, Norway's Casper Rudy for men, American Serena Williams, Romanian Simona Monica Halep and the defending champion.
