After the bitter relegation, there was the cut: Georg Pfüller is the new coach of the football class A SpVgg Mauern.

The direct ascent is not a must.

Walls

- As bitter as the relegation due to the quotient rule was for the footballers of the SpVgg walls, the club is now looking optimistically again into the future.

The reason for this is the new coach of the A-class, Georg Pfüller.

The 35-year-old is still a blank slate in the Freising district: Pfüller learned to play football in Furth near Landshut.

"And then I became a coaching job almost by accident," he says.

“When I played in Bruckberg in 2010, they were looking for a coach after six months, and I took on that.” After stints at his home club in Furth and at SG Neuhausen, he took a short break three years ago.

Contact came about through Facebook

"Lately I've been thinking about taking over a team again - and then Florian Steiner wrote to me on Facebook," says Pfüller.

Wall captain Steiner had received the recommendation from a work colleague to contact the 35-year-old.

The SpVgg had split up with trainer Andreas Maier shortly beforehand as part of the season-end discussion. “There were two reasons for this: On the one hand, Andi had a different offer. On the other hand, the team also wanted a change, and then we parted for good, ”says Chairman Björn Braun. "After such a descent, a cut feels very good - and now we're starting the new season in A-Class 6 full of energy with Georg."

This energy was already noticeable in the first training units.

"The first impression is very positive because Georg is simply a personable guy," emphasizes Braun.

“The nice thing is that we now have over 30 players in training because the men are motivated again.

Many people who have been out of football for a long time also turn up for training.

You can easily tell: Georg is a coach who can motivate the players, but also takes action when necessary. "

Pfüller has to integrate many young players into the team

With these strengths, Georg Pfüller should stabilize a weakness of the Wallers in particular: the defensive. “Our main concern is that we are safer at the back. We have missed that in the last few years, ”said Braun. In order to achieve this, the new coach is currently still relying on basic skills: “The be-all and end-all for me are the simple things: I value strong fitness, playing easy passes and moving without a ball.” At the moment, it is possible But Pfüller also wanted to integrate into the team the many young players who moved up from the A-Youth to the men's area.

If Pfüller succeeds in all of this, then nothing will stand in the way of a direct resurgence, says Braun, but qualifies: “It is not a must.

We want to play along, of course.

If the ascent jumps out of it, that would be great. "
