The Girondins de Bordeaux benefit from a particular supporter this Sunday in Orléans.

Gérard Lopez, the next owner of the club, indeed attends the final of the Challenge Emiliano Sala, (the former player of Bordeaux and Nantes who disappeared in the crash of his plane in 2019) against Caen.

He is accompanied by Admar Lopes, the future Bordeaux technical director.

Before the match, the two men were able to meet for the first time at their hotel the players, Jean-Louis Gasset and his staff.

It was above all a matter of making contact. According to our information, he explained, in essence, that the comfort was finished and that a 12th place in Ligue 1 was not an acceptable classification for Bordeaux. He tried to put a little pressure, to shake up the players and mentalities with a speech that was quite short, but rather muscular and perceived as such, in any case, by players and staff somewhat surprised by this entry into matter. He also spoke with Jean-Louis Gasset for whom he has great respect.

This meeting is not trivial.

It comes just a few days before the finalization of the sale of the FCGB.

Lopez will be heard by the Bordeaux Commercial Court this Wednesday, July 21.

After the vote of Bordeaux Métropole on the transfer of the stadium rent guarantee, the validation of the file by the DNCG and the lifting of the demotion as a precaution in L2 by the latter, this is the last step for the finalization of the transfer of King Street shares to Jogo Bonito, the company of the former boss of Lille.

The response from the Commercial Court is expected Friday at the latest.

Lopez should therefore recover, except for a setback, the reins of the club on July 24.

Gasset still not fixed on his future

Once the decision of the DNCG was known, on July 12, the Spanish-Luxembourg businessman did not hide his joy regarding this news:

The club is saved! It is an immense joy, which I share with all those who supported us in this project and who fought to save this great club. It's a great day for the Girondins and we will now get down to putting in place this sporting and economic project validated this (Monday) evening. The decisions of the DNCG in terms of controlling the wage bill and the purchase and resale of players comply with the club's sound management model (...). A new page in the history of the club is now opening and we are going to write it all together.

"

Since the start of preparation, Admar Lopes, the former recruiter and right-hand man of Luis Campos, has been watching the Girondins' matches to assess the players. Indeed, the first choices should not delay Admar Lopes will have to choose the elements to keep and those likely to leave. The future of Gasset, still under contract for one year, also remains in limbo. According to his relatives, the 67-year-old technician, disappointed by the club's 12th place in Ligue 1, has, however, never imagined resigning. He would even rather be inclined to continue his mission. Three weeks before the resumption of Ligue 1, time is running out. A few weeks ago, the name of Laurent Batlles, stationed in Troyes, had been mentioned.
