From Griezmann's point of view, the course of events is even sadder. When he shot the film about the "decision" and eventually chose to stay at Atletico, he greatly annoyed everyone involved - especially Barça for whom he was assigned the role of loser in the plot. Although he is a world champion in the French uniform, he still does not have championships. Griezmann arrived at Atletico in 2014, just after winning the sensational championship, and failed to help Simeone recreate the achievement in 5 years that were defined as personal excellence. The move to Barcelona, in the midst of a professional crisis at Atletico, was primarily intended to win the championship - and it felt like a rather trivial task. In practice, Griezmann once again reached the reigning champion, and again did not contribute to the restoration of the achievement. Quite the opposite - he saw Luis Suarez deported to Atletico a year ago and brings her the crown, while he is left with only the Spanish Cup win. And as in 2014, his chances of helping Simeone defend the crown are not particularly high.

Fernando Torres, the ultimate idol, returned from Chelsea in early 2015 and was mostly a bench player for 3.5 years.
Diego Costa had hoped to return to the track at Atletico after being thrown out of Chelsea - and he too is experiencing a rather frustrating second term.
