Press reports confirmed the imminent appointment of coach Louis van Gaal as coach of the Dutch national team, to succeed coach Frank de Boer.
The Dutch Telegraph newspaper reported that the Dutch federation reached an agreement with coach Van Gaal to take over the leadership of the Dutch national team again in the coming period.
Van Gaal trained his country for the first time between 2000 and 2002, before returning for the second time between 2012 and 2014, during which he led the team to third place in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
