In view of the tremendous change in personnel, coach Alex Plabst and the footballers of SE Freising are facing a tricky season.

- The ball is rolling again - also in the Landesliga Südost. It will be exactly 280 days on Saturday that the SE Freising footballers played their last competitive game. It was on October 17, 2020, the away game at FC Sturm Hauzenberg ended with a painful 1: 1, perhaps indicative of what was to follow. The league game could not be resumed in the spring, after almost endless discussions, the Bavarian Football Association finally broke off the 2019/20 season, which had long since become the 2019/21 season. According to the quotient rule, the Freisinger landed in sixth place in the table, but you can't really evaluate the playing time anyway.
So now we start all over again.
And the lark fields also had to find their way again first.
You get used to something quickly, admits SEF coach Alex Plabst, that at some point he started to like the time without football.
But: “It's nice that we're playing again.” However, the fact is: The new season could well be a lucky bag for the yellow-blacks.
Important actors gone or not fit
Where will you go in the upcoming eleven months when a new regional league champion will be crowned next May - if Corona allows it?
Does Eintracht mix up again?
Or will it, at least, predicts SEF sports director and trainer Plabst, a very tricky season?
“My fourth year in Freising will probably be the most difficult,” the 53-year-old admits without further ado.
This is mainly due to the personal situation.
After all, those responsible for the SEF had to let extremely important players go.
Captain Andreas Schredl takes a private year off and is completing further training to become a tax advisor.
Robert Rohrhirsch, only 23 but almost irreplaceable in midfield, will only join the squad in December.
The Lerchenfelder have completely lost Nikolai Davydov: He has ambitions to play for the national team of his Kyrgyz homeland and is therefore trying his hand at VfR Garching in the Bavarian League.
Tough chunks to start the lap
In addition - and that hurts the SEF even more - important players will not be fit until the start on Saturday. Top striker Andreas Hohlenburger is still ailing, as is midfielder Sebastian Thalhammer. Also keeper newcomer Maximilian Oswald will be missing for now. And many of the young players that coach Alex Plabst wanted to throw into the deep end of the state league are out with muscle injuries. Here Corona sends its regards - after such a long time without match practice, time will be the decisive factor here.
Time that the SEF does not have. Because the opening program has it all, it goes against TSV Kastl as well as SV Erlbach, TSV Grünwald and FC Unterföhring - all of them promotion candidates. So it will depend on the newcomers and how coach Alex Plabst manages to integrate them into the existing team around captain Florian Schmuckermeier. Benedict Geuenich - he came from TSV Jetzendorf to SE Freising - will definitely be on the starting line-up (midfield). And the home grown Luka Brudtloff also has good cards for one of the positions at the league opener against Kastl after his four test match goals. On the offensive, the only 19-year-old newcomer Sebastian Niedermayer could also inherit Davydov. But whoever tries to start:It should be an exciting journey for the SEF this season.
