The Nanterre commercial court on Friday authorized Canal + to suspend the sub-license contract with beIN sports for the broadcasting of two matches per day of Ligue 1, two weeks before the resumption of the championship, we learned from sources close to broadcasters.

The justice, however, conditioned a return to normal contractually if the Qatari channel initiates proceedings against the LFP, which Canal + had requested in vain.

"The chaos continues," summed up one of the sources.

Last June, while the Professional Football League (LFP) had chosen Canal +, Amazon and beIN Sports to broadcast Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 from next season, the encrypted channel had finally announced to withdraw its offer concerning the first division.

She had only gotten two matches a day, with the rest going mostly to Amazon.

“After the failure of the choice of Mediapro in 2018, Canal + regrets the decision of the Professional Football League (LFP) to retain Amazon's proposal today to the detriment of that of its historical partners CANAL + and beIN Sports.

Canal + will therefore not broadcast Ligue 1, ”announced the encrypted television group (a subsidiary of Vivendi) in a press release.
