The celebration kicking off the Olympic Games is being held without an audience, due to a health crisis.
France will be led by its two flag bearers, Clarisse Agbegnenou and Samir Aït Saïd.
The French athletes will parade in penultimate, just before Japan.
They will be able to enjoy the three and a half hours of show.
The President of the Republic, who arrived in Tokyo on Friday morning, will stay 48 hours in Japan, where he will be the only G7 leader present for the opening ceremony.
