Handball at Olympia 2021: schedule, results, TV broadcast

The dream of gold in Tokyo is alive: Germany's handball players will play for an Olympic medal from July 24th. The women missed the qualification. You can find everything you need to know about the tournament here.

The German national team will intervene in the Olympic handball tournament from July 24th.

Led by captain Uwe Gensheimer, the DHB selection in Tokyo is aiming for a medal.

A total of twelve countries compete against each other in two groups of six, Germany faces the top favorites France and Spain early on.

The winner will be determined on August 7th at the Yoyogi National Stadium, Denmark will enter the race as the reigning world champion and defending champion.

The German squad

Coach Alfred Gislason has nominated 17 professionals for the summer games.

He did without major surprises.

For Johannes Bitter, 38, and Uwe Gensheimer, 34, it should be the last chance for a gold medal.

The mode

The first four teams of the two groups qualify for the quarter-finals.

There is no main round, instead it continues directly in knockout mode.

The quarter-finals will be played from August 3rd, the final will take place four days later.

Olympic handball tournament on TV

The group games of the German national team are all broadcast on ZDF.

Encounters without German participation can be seen in the live stream on the websites of the public broadcasters or on Eurosport 1 and 2.
